Classical Melody by Khyati Kumar Enriches India ESG Summit in Raipur

The 14-year-old child prodigy from Raigarh captivated the audience with soulful renditions of Indian classical raagas and was honoured with the Child Prodigy Award 2023.

The India ESG Summit 2023 opened on a graceful cultural note as young classical singer Khyati Kumar delivered a memorable performance that left the audience deeply impressed. The summit was held on August 12, 2023, at Hotel Babylon International, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. At just 14 years of age, Khyati brought remarkable maturity, devotion and command to the stage. Her presentation of Indian classical music added a spiritual and artistic dimension to the national gathering focused on sustainability, ESG and responsible business practices.

A Soulful Classical Performance

Khyati Kumar presented an hour-long performance featuring intricate raagas, including Raag Bhupali, Raag Bahar, Raag Darbari Kanda, Raag Ahilya Bilawal, Raag Puriya, Raag Malkuans and Raag Shudh Kalyan. Her melodious voice, clarity of expression and disciplined presentation reflected her deep training in Indian classical music.

Her performance was beautifully supported by accomplished musicians. Guru Kishan Morya from Raipur accompanied her on harmonium, Guru Chhabi Lal Malakar from Raigarh played the tabla, and Guru Damrudhar Malakar from Raigarh performed on the pakhawaj.

Together, the ensemble created a rich classical atmosphere that resonated strongly with the audience.

Honoured with the Child Prodigy Award 2023

In recognition of her exceptional talent, Khyati Kumar was honoured with the Child Prodigy Award 2023 at the India ESG Summit.

The award was presented by acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer Ms. Monica Chanda of Meghalaya, a respected member of the Sangeet Natak Akademi council. Khyati was also felicitated with a memento and picture to mark her outstanding contribution to the cultural segment of the summit.

Several distinguished personalities present at the event appreciated her performance. They included renowned author Girish Pankaj, Sunil Ramdas Agrawal (Industrialist and philanthropist), Dr. Pushpendra Pratap Singh (Philanthropist and Country Head of Asia Shipping), and Dr. Sanjay Gandhi (Founder and Managing Director) of Aspire Knowledge & Skills India Pvt. Ltd., Pune.

Khyati’s performance drew admiration from eminent guests and cultural observers. Ms. Monica Chanda and Girish Pankaj praised her command over classical music and her ability to perform with confidence before a distinguished audience.

Her presentation was seen not merely as a performance by a young artist, but as a reflection of India’s rich classical heritage being carried forward by the next generation.

A Rising Voice in Indian Classical Music

Khyati Kumar began her musical journey at the young age of four. Since then, she has steadily grown as a promising talent in Indian classical music.

Shaped by the Raigarh Gharana

Khyati’s musical journey has been deeply influenced by the rich legacy of the Raigarh Gharana. She has received guidance from respected gurus and senior artists who have helped shape her understanding of classical music.

Her mentors include Kalaguru Shri Vedmani Singh Thakur, Gurumata Chandra Dewangan and Guru Devlal Devangan. She has also benefited from the guidance of Guru Shri Chhabilal Malakar, Guru Shri Kishan Mourya and Guru Shri Shubham.

Their training has strengthened her foundation in raag, taal, expression and performance discipline.

Balancing Music and Academics

Khyati Kumar is not only a gifted classical singer but also a dedicated student. She is studying in Class 10 at the prestigious OP Jindal School in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.

Under the guidance of Principal Shri R.K. Trivedi and with the support of her school environment, Khyati continues to balance her academic responsibilities with her passion for music.

Her journey shows how young students can excel in both education and the arts when they receive the right encouragement, mentorship and opportunities.

Cultural Grace at India ESG Summit

The India ESG Summit, returning for its second edition, brought together leaders, experts and changemakers from the fields of sustainability, CSR, ESG, business and development.

Khyati Kumar’s classical performance gave the summit a meaningful cultural opening. It reminded the audience that sustainability is not limited to business and environment alone. It also includes preserving India’s cultural traditions, nurturing young talent and celebrating artistic excellence.
